Formed by its dramatic history down through the ages, Rovinj, with its Old Town on a mound rising from the sea, and with its twisting Romanesque/gothic alleyways, boasts many structures dating from Renaissance, baroque and neoclassical times. This picturesque settlement with its numerous effortless accessible beaches is an excursion centre serving the surrounding district, nearby Limfjord for example, and all this makes the town an attractive tourist destination.

Twenty-two islands set in a charming seascape off the coast offer exciting bathing and diving reachable easily by boat; the Red Island (Crveni Otok) is only one of the best. Numerous restaurants around the harbour, innumerable taverns and caf├ęs as well as the Old Town's pedestrian zone simply cry out for you to explore.

In the area of Rovinj there are some valuable and protected parts of nature, special reserves: islands and the coast from the islet of Sv. Ivan (St John) to the islet of Dvije sestrice (Two Sisters), sea and underwater of the Limski kanal (Lim fjord) and a part of Limska draga (Lim dell), Park Forest "Punta Corrente", marsh Palud, Romuald's cave on the southern side Lim fjord and stone-pit Monfiorenzo as a kind of geological monument of nature.
