Formed by its dramatic history down through the ages, Rovinj, with its Old Town on a mound rising from the sea, and with its twisting Romanesque/gothic alleyways, boasts many structures dating from Renaissance, baroque and neoclassical times. This picturesque settlement with its numerous effortless accessible beaches is an excursion centre serving the surrounding district, nearby Limfjord for example, and all this makes the town an attractive tourist destination.
Twenty-two islands set in a charming seascape off the coast offer exciting bathing and diving reachable easily by boat; the Red Island (Crveni Otok) is only one of the best. Numerous restaurants around the harbour, innumerable taverns and cafés as well as the Old Town's pedestrian zone simply cry out for you to explore.
In the area of Rovinj there are some valuable and protected parts of nature, special reserves: islands and the coast from the islet of Sv. Ivan (St John) to the islet of Dvije sestrice (Two Sisters), sea and underwater of the Limski kanal (Lim fjord) and a part of Limska draga (Lim dell), Park Forest "Punta Corrente", marsh Palud, Romuald's cave on the southern side Lim fjord and stone-pit Monfiorenzo as a kind of geological monument of nature.

Lim Fjord - The Bay is located just a few miles from Rovinj. The bay is famous for the cultivation of fish and shellfish.

The old city - Rises on a peninsula in the cramped space, you can see the old stone houses in a row, with narrow streets and small squares. 1963rd the old town was declared a cultural monument.
Fonts St. Trinity - Romanesque church built in the 13th century is also interesting because of the detailed transennas depicting Golgotha.
The town walls and doors - Even in the 7th century Rovinj was surrounded by town walls, and later strengthened by the construction urban towers. The town had seven gates, and there still remain three: Porte St. Benedict, Portico and door st. Cross. At the site outside the city gate was built in the 17th century Baroque Balbi arch, now the entrance to the Old Town.
Church of St. Euphemia - Built in the early 18th century, and in the last half century, is built a new facade in the Baroque - Venetian style. The bell tower of St. Euphemia is sixty meters high, decorated with copper statue of the saint that is turning on its axis with wind power.
Franciscan monastery - Church and monastery were built in the early 18th century. In this comprehensive baroque building is a rich library and an interesting museum of religious art works.
Castle on the island of Sv. Andrew (Red Island) - A Benedictine Monastery founded in the 6th century. In the 15th century, the Franciscans, have expand it and increased, and in the end of the 19th century, is edited by Baron Hütterodt. Today the castle is transformed into a hotel.
Dvigrad - Abandoned ruins of a medieval town from the 17th century. The most beautiful are the remains of the church of St. Sofia. Dvigrad is 23 kilometers away from Rovinj.
Rovinj aquarium - Behind thick glasses lives varied undersea spieces of the Istrian peninsula and the northern Adriatic. Wigs, various algae, crabs and shrimps, snails and then stars.
